Check out the new  SENIORS' ADVOCATE  page.

Check out the Editorial page for news on SMART METERS, the RESIDENTIAL TENANCY DISPUTE RESOLUTION FEE INCREASE and the SMOKE ALARM TESTING AND REPLACEMENT documentation and response.

Please be advised that the Government has set the maximum increase for rents that take effect in 2016 on your rental agreement anniversary date to the following: 0.9% inflation rate PLUS 2% bonus for landlords, for a total of 2.9%.  THIS INCREASE IS NOT DISPUTABLE.

The new Notice of Rent Increase form RTB-45 MUST be used for this increase.

In addition to the 2.9% there can be a PROPORTIONAL AMOUNT for increases to government levies and utility fees.

RTB-11 MUST be used for this Notice of Increase for the Proportional Amount.

THIS PART IS DISPUTABLE.  Government forms and receipts are required.

If you agree in writing, your rent can be increased by any amount you agree to.

SO BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU SIGN.

On September 16, 2014 the Residential Tenancy Branch launched a new website within its main government site. This is the link.

The new site provides information in “plain language" and makes it easier to find important tenancy-related information. The current website will redirect users to the new website.

Below is a history of allowable rental increases for the last 10 years and it appear that 2014 will have the lowest increase.  So that is good news.

Here is another link to the Residential Tenancy Branch for more info on Rent Increases and Non-Payment of Rent.

Please check out the new page for the HOUSING ON RENTED LAND TENANCY ACT 2013.
It is on the New Tenancy Act tab.

MANUFACTURED HOME PARK RULES  is still the feature displayed on the Featured Sites page because it remains so controversial.

Please note that there is a new ELECTRICAL page containing as much information as possible regarding the Electrical Certification (Silver Tag) for all Manufactured Homes in BC.

As reported at the May 4th. 2012 Annual General Meeting, a legal advocate is available, at no cost, to assist you with housing problems.  See the link to the Penticton & Area Access Society, formerly the Penticton & Area Women's Centre, (PAWC), on our Resources page.
